This rare antique chest of drawers is an exceptional example of late 18th to early 19th-century furniture, showcasing classic Georgian/Regency elegance. Crafted from a handsome medium-light brown fruitwood or walnut, the piece features striking burr wood figuring that adds rich character to the drawer fronts.
The eight-drawer configuration is unique and highly desirable: a top section features three smaller, side-by-side drawers, with a clever hidden compartment concealed behind the middle drawer. Below, four graduated full-width drawers are vertically stacked, subtly increasing in depth for a pleasing tiered look.
All drawer fronts are finished with precise cock-beading. The top drawers are fitted with a single brass pull, while the larger lower drawers feature double original round brass knobs with circular backplates. The drawers operate cleanly, and the chest is completed by curved bracket feet. This piece has been well-maintained, displaying its antique look. Minor wear consistent with its genuine antique age.
