This exceptional antique chest of drawers, characteristic of the Federal or Sheraton style (circa 1790–1820), exemplifies the era's emphasis on elegant proportions and refinement. The case is constructed of hardwood mahogany and features a stunning book-matched flame or stripe veneer prominently displayed on the drawer fronts. It offers four drawers in a "two-over-two" configuration (two short drawers over two full-width ones). All drawers are expertly crafted with durable dovetail joints and detailed with beaded trim along their edges. Original, chunky, solid brass swan neck/bail pull handles and ornate escutcheons adorn the fronts. The chest is raised on tall, slender, straight legs, featuring a carved, decorative apron in the center and resting on a raised platform foot structure. Minor marks and wear are present, consistent with its genuine age and usage.
