This exquisite Victorian wind-out dining table is a rare and complete example of 19th-century British craftsmanship, perfectly proportioned to seat 4 to 6 people. The tabletop is constructed from premium solid oak featuring exceptional "Tiger Oak" figuring. These prominent medullary rays create a shimmering, iridescent "stripe" across the wood that is unique to high-quality quarter-sawn timber, offering both a striking visual depth and superior structural stability.
The table is equipped with its original, high-spec mechanical winding system by the celebrated machinist Joseph Fitter of the Britannia Works, Birmingham. The authentic brass patent plate remains affixed to the mechanism, certifying its engineering pedigree. Unlike many surviving pieces, this table retains its original heavy-duty winding handle, allowing the internal iron screw to expand the frame smoothly to accommodate the extension leaf.
The design is supported by four elegantly turned legs terminating in the original brass casters, ensuring the piece is as functional as it is beautiful. The rich, warm patina of the oak has been well-preserved, making this an investment-grade statement piece for a sophisticated dining space.
